One of our favourite blogs features Tigermoth Lighting!
In an article entitled “Energy efficient doesn’t = Ugly”, Lucy Freedman has highlighted our Good Looking Energy Saving Lightbulbs:
I’m struggling to accept energy efficient lighting. You walk to a room and flick the switch, and you get in instant hit of dull light that needs 10 minutes to warm up. Not the point of turning the lights on is it. Here you have a lovely looking, and clear light bulb. They are the same shape as the traditional incandescent lightbulb but use 30% less energy.
That’s what you want in a bulb. Available from www.tigermothlighting.com

“We salute another lighting dynasty. Harriet Daniels has followed father Grant into the business with her own chandeliers and pendants. All can have customised finishes. This one is made of hundreds of individual chains creating a muted glow and shadow play when it moves. It comes with three E27 lampholders and in two sizes: 400 and 500mm diameter. Larger versions to come. www.tigermothlighting.com”
Furnish.co.uk’s “Fabulous Finds” blog features our Silver Chain Chandelier!
Posted 23rd December 09
“Add some drama with this impressive chandelier from Tigermoth Lighting. From £1,498.
Lighting on the whole is practical. We kinda need it otherwise we’d constantly walk around bumping into things – yes I know that’s stating the bleedin’ obvious.
But that doesn’t mean lighting can’t be beautiful as well.
There are lots of beautiful table lamps, pendants and wall lights about – a lot of them right here on Furnish – but we think we’ve fallen in love with Tigermoth Lighting. Their decadent and unusual range features beautiful pendants and chandeliers made from exquisite crystals that are guaranteed to create a show-stopping centrepiece in any room.
We’re especially taken with the chain range which includes pendants and chandeliers made from long strands of black or silver chain as shown in this dramatic three-tier chandelier.
Perfect for use in any room, we think it would look fab in a hallway with a high ceiling to make a truly elegant entrance to your home."

Tigermoth Lighting takes Decorex by Storm!
Posted 01 October 09
We used Decorex 09 as the official launch for our collection. Decorex is Britains biggest and best show for interior design professionals and we were overwhelmed with the positive feedback we received. The best part about it was talking to you all about how you plan to use our lights in your interior design schemes – because there are so many options in the collection, you were coming up with ideas that we’d never thought of.
Clockwise from top left: The entrance to Decorex (the biggest marquee we’ve ever seen, put up in the beautiful grounds of the Royal Chelsea Hospital); our Petrol Crystal Chandelier looking twinkly on the stand; the Tigermoth Lighting Stand; the stars of the show – our Silver Chain Maxi Pendant Lights; the Tigermoth Lighting stand again.
If you saw us at Decorex but forgot your postcards, drop us a line and we’ll pop some in the post to you.

Commissioning one-off lighting or furniture designs.
Posted 17 June 09
If you are looking for something for your home, but can’t find anything that’s exactly right, it might be worth commissioning something special.
Many small creative businesses like Tigermoth Lighting offer this service and you may find that its not as expensive as you think.
“Custom” commissions will involve making a version of a product that is already offered. This can be especially useful if you are looking for something to fit an unusual space, for example a sofa to fit exactly along the wall of your sitting room. Also if you are looking for a different colour, for example a chandelier with crystal that picks out the exact colour of a stained glass window in your hallway.
“Bespoke” commissions involve a lengthier process whereby the designer will start from scratch and will work with you to create your dream design. This can be more expensive than a “Custom” commission.
Don’t be afraid to call up a designer whose designs you like and ask. Most designers will be happy to talk you through the options and come up with some ideas. After all, decorating our homes is all about expressing our individuality, so why not work with a designer to create something totally unique?

How to clean a crystal chandelier or light.
Posted 10 June 09
The thought of cleaning a crystal chandelier can be quite daunting but actually it’s not too hard.
There is nothing worse than a chandelier covered in dust and cobwebs (unless you want to rock the haunted house look!). The best course of action is prevention – a regular dusting with a feather duster (when the light is switched off) should prevent a build up of grime.
Another good preventative measure is to protect your chandelier with dust sheets if you are doing any decorating in the house.
If you do notice that the sparkle has gone out of your crystal, follow Tigermoth Lighting’s five easy steps:
(1) Switch off the power at the mains fuse box.
(2) If your chandelier is up high, make arrangements to reach it safely.
(3) If it is above a hard floor, put down cushions or a duvet – this way, if you accidentally drop a crystal, it shouldn’t break.
(4) Take a soft cotton cloth, dip it in very hot water, and wring it out as much as possible so there are no drips. Use this to clean the crystals one-by-one. Avoid getting water anywhere other than on the crystals. Wash the cloth out as needed but always make sure you wring it out thoroughly before applying to the chandelier.
(5) Switch the electricity back on, step back and enjoy!
You should not need to do this more than every few years.
These steps are general as we don’t know what kind of chandelier you have got or how it is set up- they are no substitute for good common sense, so be careful!
